What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system. While many people associate chiropractic care with the spine, modern chiropractors are trained to assess and treat conditions throughout the entire body.

At ACCEL, our chiropractors take a comprehensive approach to care, addressing not only the area of pain but also the underlying factors that may be contributing to the problem. Treatment may include spinal adjustments, joint mobilization, soft tissue techniques, and acupuncture or electroacupuncture, depending on your specific needs.

Patients commonly seek chiropractic care for low back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder and hip dysfunction, and injuries related to sport or repetitive strain. Chiropractic care can also be beneficial during pregnancy, particularly for patients managing pelvic girdle discomfort or preparing for labour.

How ACCEL's Chiropractic Team Works

ACCEL's chiropractic team brings a diverse range of experience and clinical interests, allowing patients to connect with a practitioner whose expertise aligns with their needs and goals.

Dr. Ashley Lilly, DC, has been part of the ACCEL team for more than 14 years and has extensive experience working with athletes of all levels, including strong involvement within the Halifax hockey community.

Dr. Amanda Volcko, DC, works with patients of all ages and activity levels, helping them manage pain, improve movement, and achieve their health and activity goals. She also provides chiropractic support to Soccer Nova Scotia's Excel Program, one of the province's elite youth soccer development pathways.

Dr. Rebecca Wynn, DC, is Webster Technique certified and has a special interest in supporting pregnant individuals through all stages of pregnancy, as well as helping patients safely return to activity during the postpartum period.

All ACCEL chiropractors incorporate evidence-informed treatment approaches and may utilize techniques such as contemporary medical acupuncture and electroacupuncture when appropriate. As part of ACCEL's multi-disciplinary structure, our chiropractors also work closely with our physiotherapists, massage therapists, and other healthcare professionals to help ensure patients recieve coordinated, comprehensive care when needed.
